Waiting for.....

Hello everyone,

Well my family is getting a new Nikon camera! Woohoo! It is coming in the mail from amazon by the end of the week Lord willing. We are so excited!!!

On another note I am saving my money for my own sewing machine. My sister has a Bernina and I am wanting to purchase a Janome Thread Banger. I quite like the name! It sounds smashing and sounds like it will be a sturdy machine. I researched and it was the best one for my budget. I am over half way to my goal of saving for it.

Lord willing my Christmas I will have enough money saved to get this machine. Right now I do not have a machine and I have been using my sisters Bernina, as the singer we have used for 10 years died recently. We are going to get it serviced and repaired, but its not a very good or reliable machine. So it would be nice to have a new and reliable machine. 2 friends of mine both have Janome machines and love them, so that is why I chose that brand. Bernina is too expensive for me and Singer was bought out by China. So I wanted a good quality machine for my price level.

What machine do you have? Do you love it? Is it reliable? What machine would you buy if you had $600?

In Christ,
Rebecca

Great news about the camera! I have a Bernina and I love it! It is one of the cheaper ones and I am saving (theoretically) for a more expensive one. Good luck to you in your saving!

It's not that bad to wait until Christmas - what a great present!

I wish I could sew. I'm all thumbs when it comes to the machines, even after two rounds of sewing lessons. Give me a glue gun or a staple gun and I can make something!

Hooray for cameras! I know how it is without one. I've been using my aunts for two years now because mine...well got dropped in a river... As for sewing machines you seem to have picked a good one! We used my moms from the 70s until it gave up the ghost. LOL! So now we're using a "Brother" from wal-mart which I don't reccomend... It has something wrong with the tension and is always breaking thread and gomming up.. But we have several old tredle singers that I love! And a knee pedal table machine that was my great grandmother's. I love reading you and your sister's blogs! Sadly its hard to comment from my phone..(no internet at home right now) But I wanted ask ya'll if you wanted to take part in a new blog I've started for homemaking girls like us? Its at www.sahdf.blogspot.com if you want to check it out! I love your blog, keep writing, and I'll try to comment more! In Christ, Meggie.

Hi Rebecca!

How exciting about your family getting the Nikon...I'll try not to be jealous! I have a point-and-shoot (although it does have a zoom lens), and I would love to someday be able to use a digital SLR. I have a film SLR, but it isn't as much fun to use film anymore! :)

About the sewing machine, I can't be of much help there...I have a very simple basic stitch Singer. But in all the 10 years I've had it (and done LOTS of sewing with it), it has served me well. My mom has a vintage (avocado green) Singer and it has been wonderful for all her sewing needs. It is too bad they don't make them like they used to (and that they're made in China)! The Janome machines look great from all I've heard about them.

Blessings,
Joy

Wow, that is a pretty funky sewing machine! (Regular price is $900?! Woah!) Good luck with your saving :o)

I have a very basic Brother machine I got at Walmart for about $99 6 or 7 years ago. It doesn't do anything fancy at all, but it does what I need it to do and I haven't had any problems with it, despite maybe not taking the best care of it.

Shortly after I bought myself that machine, my aunt sent me her very fancy Janome that she had bought to use for quilting, but either didn't need or had replaced. So I've had that sitting around for several years, but actually have never tried using it. I figure when the Brother finally goes, I'll pull it out :o)
