Twilight why I am concerned for my sisters in Christ

I was just hearing from some girls at my church the other day how they love the books and movies called Twilight and that put up red flags all over the place. I already know that some of them are not christians, but for the ones that I think are this scares me! I did not know alot about the plot or any of the story line, but Ana Sophia and Elizabeth over at Visionary Daughtars did a great article showing why this series is dangerous to us as christian young women. It is something that is tempting and then leads us to discontentment and sin. http://visionarydaughters.com/

So go and read their article, it really made me say even more that I don't want to read those books. When I saw in their article why there was an apple in a girls hands on the cover it really disturbed me.

We can be encouraged that their are people that are reading and seeing that this series can be damaging and are doing something about it by letting other christians know.

In Christ,

Rebecca

VERY good post, Rebecca!!

I remember we had a discussion about this once on the S&S forum... I know little about Twilight but I know enough that I do not think it is a book Jesus would approve of me reading (or my parents either!) Another verse I might add to Visionary Daughters' great choices that they referenced is 1 Corinthians 10:13 (I think that's the reference)... to do ALL to the glory of God, even eating, drinking, or.... reading and watching! If a movie is not glorifying to God, we really oughtn't watch it!

Thanks again, and keep your eyes on Jesus!

In Him,
Melanie/Elinor :-)

Yes I love that verse thanks for posting it Melanie! Yes it really just has been so hard for me as a family that my family has been taking to our church, the little girls of only age 12 and 10 are getting into these books and I wish I could just trash them! There family is in a really hard situation, so its hard for me to see them watching or reading it.

So this issue is close to my heart. Because I can see how its a bad influence on younger girls that are my friends.

I have read Twilight. And regreted every moment of it. It truly isn't something Christian girls should be reading. I know I didn't like the way it made me feel and I don't like what it has done to some of my friends.

Thanks for the post!

I dont know much about Twilight...but of what I have seen from like posters and pre-views, I wouldnt think that it is somthing a christian girl should read. Better to fill your mind with good wholesome reading material than worldy trash, as you all say that these books are.

Thank you Becca, for bringing this to us older girls attention so that we can pray for these younger girls who are so enamored by the books!!

Love you girl :-)

thanks everyone for reading! I thought I would post my thoughts and what the Botkin sisters had to say, because I can see how these books are distracting our younger sisters in my own life.

Hey hannah! glad you stopped by!

thanks for the comments everyone!

Great post! I did watch the movie, and didn't like it. I just heard how awful the next few books are and how the movies may be R rated... we definitely need to be careful what we read and watch!
