 Hi Ladies, 

No matter what season of life you are in, single, married, young or old you need to listen to this interview with Angie. It was definitely an eye opener, helping me to realize each moment counts. What kind of legacy am I leaving? Is it a legacy that will point others to my Savior Jesus Christ? Does the clothing I wear, the things I talk about, the plans I make glorify my Father in heaven? These are all you might say tough questions, but they are important ones we must think about as believers in Christ.


Angie blogs over at Redeeming Childbirth and Leaving A Legacy and I am so glad my sister Bethany and my friend Jennifer introduced this lady to me.  So definitely check out both of her blogs and if you don't have time for that at least listen to her interview while you make breakfast or fold the laundry. :) Thats what I did today.

November is fleeting

Hey ya'll! Yes side pony tails are totally in style again! not! haha :) Yeah so that is how I wear my hair when I go to bed, I thought it was too 90's to not share. :) Yes I am a 90's child.

My boys!I  love them.

The thanksgiving feast with friends was too much fun and we were so blessed to spend it with fellow believers in Christ despite not having a church home right now.

The whole group after we stuffed ourselves, no I guess I should say ate our fill. :) We sang hymns to the Lord, played a fun game, and had great conversation. It was a lovely evening and afternoon.

Happy thanksgiving late ya'll and don't forget God is good in abundance and plenty and in times of hardship as well. Praise God for His steadfast faithfulness to us.

River Song Inspired OOTD

Hi Ya'll! I know this post is long over due considering the blog party is over, but I wantd to do the River Song inspired photo shoot anyway. My Dad was so kind in teaching me gun safety and all before doing the shoot. So all you people out there thinking she has a gun, scary, I do know how to use it and I understand how to be safe while carrying the weapon. :) It was not loaded in these pictures.

The em famous black dress is vintage from Amalagated Vintage and Dry goods in Alexandria, VA. It is a beautiful 1960's cocktail dress and I think it looks a lot like something River might wear. The red beaded necklace was bought at the same time as well from the same store. My shoes are from the thrift store and they are dance shoes. My grey shrug was thrifted from a little charity shop in my town

The gun I am carrying is my Dads 45. Definitely comment if you want to know more and I will be sure to ask my dad is I don't know the answer to your questions about the gun. After this photo shoot my dad is convinced I need to go to the shooting range with him. I think so too considering weapon safety and being able to protect ones self in self defense is so important. :)

 The idea for a photo shoot with a gun came from the picture above. I thought it would be definitely a River inspired OOTD post with a gun in there.

Vintage Style Weekend Trip Part 1

 Hi Readers! My family and I have gone to PA and back for a weekend trip. We first stopped for dinner the first night at lovely 50's style diner in Lancaster, PA called DJ's Diner.

I was so intrigued when we passed by it on the way to our hotel that I said, "Please Dad can we eat there?!!!" I then grinned widely. :) Of course, all of us thought hamburgers and milk shakes sounded amazing so we stopped and boy were we in for a real treat!

DJ's is not a chain and is a christian joint. There goal is to have a place where people can good homecooking 50's style and take the time to focus on the Lord while doing it. They even have a prayer building in the back of the joint for anyone to go to and take time to pray and focus on the Lord. Isn't that cool?! I think its awesome and really needed these days! Most people, including myself forget to take the time to spend time in the prayer closet with the Lord these days.

I loved all the coke-a-cola themed memorabilia and red and blue theme all around the joint. They even had 50's music playing while we were there and the waitresses dressed in 50's circle skirts and pony tails.

And to end a chocolate shake my dad and I shared. Yes it was ok, but I have had better actually. I have to say though their cokes were real cokes with real bubbles instead of the flat stuff I tend to end of drinking for some reason whenever I drink the drink. I love mine fizzy and strong, not flat and syrupy. :) I am particular. lol

Doctor 11 Inspired Outfit of the Day

Hi ya'll! I was totally inspired by the 11th doctor in the episode with the american western theme. I received a australian hat from my grandmother that was a my late grandpa's and I thought it fit the bill. :) I also had a wool plaid jacket from Unique thrift store that I love and I thought it was the perfect feminine version of his wool jacket in that episode.

I should have done a blue bow tie and jeans instead of the skirt, but I wanted to do a more feminine version of this outfit. :) The skirt is thrifted from goodwill and it has cool cut outs at the bottom.

The hat is from my grandpa, the boots are from payless, the button down top is from my local thrift store, the jacket is from another thrift store, and the necklaces were gifts.

I quite like the black and white outfit without the hat and jacket too. ;) I wore this out to dinner with my family without the jacket.

Thanks to Mom and Hannah S. for the necklaces! I use them a lot. I always get compliments Hannah on the watch necklace, people always ask where I got it. :)

A Birthday Alternative to Cake (tart!)

Hey Ya'll! 

My sister Bethany had a birthday in September and I decided to make her a gluten free and sugar free alternative to a birthday cake. I thought to myself what would sound good and taste yummy for a b-day celebration that was just as good as cake? 

Then the idea came to my head, why not do a fruit pudding tart?! I had always dreamed of making some small personal tarts for myself and friends and family, but there was never an occasion. Now was my chance.

So I went to the dictionary/resource of all resources Google. :) I Googled fruit tart and up came this lovely blog. Then I wanted to do an arrangement of fruit on top that was different than her lovely tart. It was pretty, but I did not have raspberries and I wanted to use the fruit we had in the freezer and fridge.  I wanted to be frugal and not have to go to the grocery to buy anything and I did not have to.

So once again I went to Mr. Google and found some fun pictures for inspiration. Yes I know I should start using Pinterest and I might have found something even more epic, but alas I do not want to succumb myself to the temptation to be addicted to that lovely attraction. Although it sounds lovely, it could turn into a not so lovely addiction for me. ;) I regress.

Anyways, so I found this, this , this, this, and this to be very inspiring and helpful in figuring what design I wanted to do with the fruit I already had available.

Here are a few pictures of the 3 different tarts I made over the course of two different days of celebrating.

My dad even thought they were delicious and so did the birthday gal and my mother. We were all happy even without sugar or wheat in there. It was still tasty with a little honey in the vanilla pudding I made from scratch that filled the middle.

I used the crust recipe from the Gluten free fix blog and I used the Creamy vanilla pudding recipe from the Heavenly Homemakers blog. Both are so so so yummy! I substituted the almond meal flour in the crust for raw almonds, which I just chopped up into fine flour in our Vitamix. I also substituted honey instead of sucanat in the pudding since we are doing sugar free tarts. You really should make them sometime with or without the sugar. ;)

I hope you all are having a lovely day! And just to be honest this is the first day in quite sometime I have gotten up when its still dark outside to start my day and I am very excited about all the things I have gotten accomplished before 10am. ;) Am I the only one who has had a hard time getting into a good morning routine of getting up early? Its only by Gods grace and help I was able to. Praise the Lord for His help!

Williamsburg Trip Part 2

 Starting our day the 2nd day we decided we would dress vintage inspired. I am wearing a vintage 1950s house dress and Ginny  on the left is wearing some 1940s inspired jeans she made herself. Isn't she a genius!!? They look so vintage and comfy to wear and they still look majorly feminine compared to modern jeans. Don't you think?

Our first stop was the working farm where we saw the farmers using the oxen to till their field.

The beautiful colonial garden was too fun to take photos of! I did not even include hardly any of them, I took so many. :)

My parents above as we walked to the colonial village. They are such godly parents! Yes they are sinners, but I praise God for them and how God provided them for me as godly counsel and friends.

The weaver was very interesting. You can see the shuttle below which they used when they would weave. The paper on the inside is actually either a piece of news paper or a playing card. Which apparently they did often to wind the thread onto.

The weaver/ spinner was very informative and she did such  great job telling us the history of weaving and spinning and the like. The looms in there were huge! Wish we owned one. :)

At lunch we did not even plan it, but we looked so vintage drinking root beer and cherry soda. :)

The Shoe maker, yes He is not the cobbler. And no he does not make ladies shoes apparently.

The Book bindery was pretty awesome! I never knew until I visited Williamsburg how they made books back then.

The Wig makers shop seen above was very informative and the lady on the right was perfect with her irish accent. I loved her 1st person persona. :)

We all got to play the harpsichord in the Cabinet Makers shop. Yes they also made harpsichords apparently. They even were making one the day we visited in the shop.

The Brick yard was interesting. :) They asked us if we wanted to help stomp the clay for making bricks, but I said no as I did not want to ruin my vintage dress. I guess I did not want to get dirty. Sorry guys! 

We found the sign above on the drink fountain quite amusing. :)

Lastly the jail sells of Colonial Williamsburg above and my Dad and I had fun below posing for this picture. :)
